Swimming is very intense for horses
Swimming is also a perfect supplement for every training program. For a horse, swimming is very intensive: 10 minutes of swimming equals a normal 1 hour-training. Swimming in the pool is not only a good cardiovascular training, in which endurance is trained, but it also a great power training. The reverse current obliges the horse to work hard and to use all of its muscle groups.
For sport horses, swimming is used as a constructive training and as a variation to the regular work.
Swimming is also used to develop training intensity after, for example, an injury.
The rehabilitation of your horse
Swimming is ideal for the rehabilitation of:
- OCD surgery
- Tendon injuries in all degrees
- Back injuries
- Fractures
- Muscle and joint problems
Training your horse
Swimming is ideal for the training of:
- Muscle force and dimension
- Fitness and cardiovascular endurance
Treadmill for horses
The treadmill is very suited for rehabilitation processes. This allows each horse
to perform its own optimal rehabilitation programme, all within a controlled and risk-free environment.
The aquatrainer is used for horses who need rehabilitation from an injury or
operation. The muscular training is done with minor pressure on the skeleton
and tendons. Moreover, the way of moving is manipulated. Because of the
movements, against the water current, horses will naturally make more use of
the hind quarters and the back. The water pressure and the massage-effect result in, as a consequence, an improved blood @low in the legs and a more active discharge of waste from the body. In case of an injury, damage is limited and we can see a faster rehabilitation.
A puri@ication installation results in clean water, which makes the aquatrainer
very suited for healing processes of traumas. Several sport horses have made a great come-back due to their rehabilitation in the aquatrainer.
Risk-free cardiovascular and power training
The treadmill is very suited for training processes because of the ability to vary with temperature, water level and speed. Each horse can perform its own optimal rehabilitation programme in a controlled and risk-free environment.
Graphs allow to follow-up on the cardiovascular and power training.
The treadmill not only aims at training specific groups of muscles, but also the building up of the endurance of horses. Training on the aerobic and anaerobic level is possible.
Rehabilitation for your horse
In general, we can say that the aquatrainer supports the rehabilitation because, as a consequence, there is an improved blood flow. The aquatrainer is also very suited to let painful or healing structures move more rapidly. The treadmill is ideal for the rehabilitation of :
- muscle, tendon and ligament injuries
- locomotion of joints
- stiffness
- heightened tension and swelling of the muscles
- painful joints with arthrosis
- hoof problems

Hydrojet for horses
Aquine acknowledges the healing effect of water on horses. Hydromassage is done through intense jetstreams, which manipulate the muscles with a massage-effect. The warm water has a relaxing, soothing and calming effect.
Horses are immobilised in the hydrojet so they do not need to move. The warm water is pumped with high speed in the horse, creating a relaxing and massage-effect.
The treadmill and the hydrojet can be integrated in one device, which allow to perform a complete and personalised training and/or rehabilitation programme.
The advantage of the hydrojet is the massage-effect of the water, which provides for an improved blood flow, which is of the greatest importance for horses who need box rest because they have done a major effort or because they underwent surgery. As a result, there is a more thorough, better and faster
recovery process. The water also has a purifying and hydrating effect.
Very suited for
Hydromassage stimulates badly functioning organs amongst others the spleen,
kidneys, liver and is very suited to reduce:
- Stress
- Stiffness
- Fatigue
- Joint and muscle pain
- Chronical and rheumatic complaints
- Very serious injuries which need box rust
